It takes only a few minutes to prepare and requires no cooking; you can easily customize our 5 Minute Homemade Ketchup to your own preferences!
Five Minute Scratch Homemade Ketchup Recipe! We enjoy creating ketchup like this since it doesn’t need to be cooked and we always have the ingredients on hand. It’s really one of the easiest condiments to make at home!
Tomato paste is one of the few ingredients I will buy rather than make myself, even though we use canned tomato paste for this recipe. Since the time and cost of the tomatoes made us understand that it would be one of the few items we buy, we decided it wasn’t worth the effort when we prepared it earlier.
Homemade Ketchup Ingredients
What’s in homemade mustard sauce? Ours, however, consists only of vinegar, tomato paste, and a ton of spices. That store-bought ketchup? Because it contains high fructose corn syrup, we produce our own.
Adaptable
The best thing about this recipe for homemade ketchup is how simple it is to customize to your own preferences! You can add any spices that suit your taste after starting with tomato paste and vinegar.
- Sugar – add more for sweetness!
- Cayenne – add a little more for heat!
- Celery salt – sometimes I like to add more of this a little less salt
- Mustard powder
- Oregano
- Onion and Garlic powder
- All spice – just a smidge!
- Salt and Pepper – to taste

FAQs
What is the shelf life of the ketchup?
Stored in a refrigerator in an airtight container, it keeps for up to one month.
It has a very vinegary flavor.
When you add the vinegar, start off little. If you would want a little extra tang, you may easily add a tiny bit more.
Can I use garlic or oregano that is fresh?
We like dry since it has the best flavor and texture.

- 0-12 oz. of tomato paste
- 1/8 – 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar add 1/8 cup first – the full 1/3 makes a tangier ketchup (which we like. If you want more tang, add a little more at a time. White vinegar can also be used.)
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
- pinch ground all spice
- Add tomato paste to a large basin.
- Add the vinegar and stir thoroughly.
- Stir with the remaining ingredients.
- If required, add more spices after tasting.
- Use the remainder in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to one month, or use as a side dish or condiment.
We prefer a tangier ketchup, so I used apple cider vinegar. White vinegar is another option, or you may dilute the vinegar with adding water. This resulted in thicker ketchup as well. Add an additional 1/4 cup of liquid if you want your ketchup loose. Taste adjustments can be made to the seasonings. To make the ketchup sweeter, add extra sugar. To make the ketchup hotter, add more cayenne. That is entirely up to you!
The nutritional content is based on around one cup of ketchup.
